BooksActivities for a Changing Earth System was developed with support from the National Science Foundation and published by The Ohio State University in 1993. The book has been scanned by the Earth Systems Education Program at Ohio State and is available on their website. From 1990 to 1995 we had support from the National Science Foundation for a teacher education program entitled, Program for Leadership in Earth Systems Education. We compiled a variety of articles and activities that resulted from that program and published them in 1995 as Science Is A Study of Earth. It has also been scanned and it is accessible on the Earth Systems Education Program website. Recently Published BooksIn early 2000 we began a project to pull together the various ideas about Earth Systems Education and Global Science Literacy as curriculum constructs. Science educators from a number of countries responded very positively to the project and over the ensuing several years, submitted a large number of manuscripts. A proposal was submitted to Kluwer Academic Publishers and a contract given. As the book project continued it became apparent that there were too many manuscripts to fit into the one book. A selection was made and in 2002 the first of two books was available at the national meeting of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching.
The remaining manuscripts in addition to several others that were submitted to round out the theme of the book, were published by The Ohio State University in 2003.
During 2006-2007, I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Jeonghee Nam, Associate Professor of Chemistry Education, Pusan National University during her sabbatical year at the University of Northern Colorado. One of our activities was to revise and translate a manuscript that I had been working on for several years. We were assisted in this effort by Dr. Hyonyong Lee of Kyongpook University, Daegu, Korea. The resulting book was published this year by the Free Academy Press in Seoul, Korea. It is now being used at several universities in Korea as an introductory integrated science text.
