Meeting Science Education Standards through Workshops at F.T. Stone Laboratory

The Stone Lab Aquatic Science Workshop Program is designed not only to provide an exciting field-based experience with the natural resources of Lake Erie, but also to assist teachers in meeting their goals for teaching science at their particular grade levels.

Workshop lessons meet many of the Ohio Academic Content  Standards for Science (2002). The links below lead to printable files for the grade levels served by workshops. Each file lists

GRADE   4                                    10        11        12

Most workshop groups design additional lessons of their own related to geography, mathematics, language arts, history, and other curriculum areas. Since our mission is primarily science, we have not attempted to catalog the standards that can be met for other disciplines. We invite teachers to share their lists of subject matter standards and tell us how Stone Lab meets them!

If your group would like a particular set of standards emphasized, please notify the workshop staff and they will try to accommodate your curriculum needs.

NOTE: Lake Erie curriculum materials for use in your classroom before and after the workshop are available through Ohio Sea Grant's education program. Click HERE for contents and ordering information.
