Objectives for the day: Introduce fisheries issues in the Great Lakes and oceans Describe the impacts and extent of influence of nonindigenous species in the Great Lakes Illustrate technology for remote sensing of underwater biotic interactions Schedule: 8 am Overview: Ocean fisheries issues (PowerPoint) 8:30 am Activity: Downeaster Alexa (from ACES (Activities for the Changing Earth System), the story of the Long Island striped bass fishery based on song by Billy Joel. Update with data from Atlantic Striped Bass Studies, 2001 Biennial Report to Congress, NMFS and USFWS (pdf file SB2001 on server) 9:30am  ROV demonstration by Matt Thomas. Examine extent of round goby nests in the Bay and relate the impacts of gobies as they interact with native species. 10:30am  Introduction of web site for education about aquatic nuisance species (Exotic Aquatics on the Move).
