You must have heard of the water cycle. The sun heats the surface of the
earth, water evaporates, water vapor rises in the atmosphere and ools and
condences, precipitation falls, and then water flows in the streams, rivers,
lakes, and oceans. Vegetation
and ground water are important links in the movement of waters as well.
Geological
features and air movement can affect water movement in the Great Lakes.
Water movement can be modified and disturbed by a variety of human activities such as construction of water channel and water level control. |

1. If you do not know which way the water
flows through the Great Lakes, what information would you need to find?
2. How do you think changes in water movement will affect water organisms living in lakes? |
