Dr. Rosanne Fortner is the program leader for Earth Systems Education, the Education Coordinator for the Ohio Sea Grant College Program, and a Professor of Environmental Science Education in the School of Natural Resources at The Ohio State University. She was a middle school science teacher in Virginia before coming to Ohio State in 1978 to work with Dr. Mayer on the Ohio Sea Grant curriculum projects. Dr. Fortner counts among her credits the publication of 12 books of curriculum materials and over 60 publications about research, teaching and program development in environmental and Earth Systems education. She was NOAA’s first education liaison, President of NMEA in 1989-90, Secretary of the AAAS Education section from 2000-2004. She has lectured on 6 continents and was a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Cyprus in 1999. After 32 years of teaching she looks forward to future beach walks and birdwatching at her retirement home on Oak Island, NC. Her grandchildren are waiting for their turn to learn first-hand about the world of water! |

Hongxia Duan has been a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) in our program for 3 years. She is beginning her dissertation work on "The effects of social processes on public responses to environmental risk" . Hongxia has been a key player in the NSF project on digital and field techniques for coastal environment studies. |
